Discovering Sëlva
In the heart of the UNESCO Dolomites, Selva di Val Gardena is one of the most popular alpine destinations in Europe. Surrounded by the Sassolungo, Sella, and Puez mountain groups, it is the perfect starting point to experience the mountains in every season.
In winter, Selva is a paradise for skiers and outdoor lovers. With direct access to the slopes of the Sellaronda, it offers kilometers of perfectly groomed runs within the Dolomiti Superski area. Each year, it hosts one of the most anticipated races of the season: the Men’s Alpine Ski World Cup on the Saslong, a legendary and technical slope. In addition to alpine skiing, you can enjoy cross-country skiing, tobogganing, snowshoeing, ice climbing, and ice skating.
In summer, Selva turns into a haven for hikers and cyclists. The trails of the Puez-Odle Nature Park, the Vallunga, hikes to Rifugio Juac and Rifugio Firenze, or the tours around Sassolungo and Puez offer unforgettable natural experiences. Adventurers can explore via ferratas and nearby climbing crags. For cycling fans, the Sellaronda Bike Day and the epic HERO Dolomites race are musts.
Events like Rock the Dolomites, Stars on Ice, and the Sellaronda Skimarathon enrich the year with culture, sports, and music. The village, which shares its Ladin heritage with Ortisei and Santa Cristina, is home to cultural gems such as the Maria Hilf parish church, the San Silvestro Chapel in the Vallunga—dedicated to the patron saint of animals—and the ruins of Castel Wolkenstein.
