Discovering Pie' Falcade

In the heart of the Valle del Biois, at the foot of the majestic UNESCO Dolomites, lies Piè Falcade, a historic hamlet and central hub of the municipality of Falcade. Located at around 1,100 meters above sea level, this village is the ideal starting point for exploring the natural and cultural wonders of the Belluno Dolomites, offering a perfect balance of alpine tradition, authentic hospitality, and active holidays.

Piè Falcade is renowned for its green plain, a vast grassy expanse surrounded by iconic peaks such as the Focobon, Civetta, Marmolada, and the Pale di San Martino. In summer, it becomes a haven for hikers, cyclists, and families, while in winter it transforms into the heart of the Pietro Scola Nordic ski center, with cross-country trails winding through a fairytale landscape.

The village is rich in rural architecture, featuring the characteristic tabià—ancient wooden barns—and sacred frescoes known as “Saints at the windows”, which reflect the valley’s deep-rooted devotion and cultural identity. Just steps away is the studio-museum of Augusto Murer, a renowned sculptor and painter who captured the soul of the Dolomites.

Piè Falcade also serves as a crossroads for major hiking routes such as the Alta Via No. 2, the Alta Via dei Pastori, and the historic Alta Via Tilman, which traverse alpine pastures, forests, and mountain huts.
