Discovering Passo di Gobbera

Passo Gobbera (Trentino) is the mountain pass linking the Valle del Vanoi and Primiero, a panoramic balcony at around 990 m surrounded by meadows, farmsteads and woodland. An ideal destination for those seeking authentic nature and Dolomite views far from the tourist crowds.

Here stands the 17th‑century Church of San Gottardo, the spiritual heart of the small community, and a trail that in just thirty minutes leads to the charming Chiesetta di San Silvestro, tied to a medieval legend: according to tradition, the saint wished it to be built on the cliff of Monte Totoga, where it still overlooks the valley and is the focus of processions on 1 May and 31 December.

From the ridge you can continue towards Monte Totoga, among World War I stoli and the wild landscapes of the pre‑Alps; just below, the restored calchèra tells of the ancient craft of lime production.

For road cyclists, the tunnel below is closed to bikes: the panoramic hairpin route thus becomes the natural link between Canal San Bovo and the Primiero cycle path, with variants towards Passo Brocon and Tesino.

In winter, the secluded position of Passo Gobbera ensures peace and quiet, while remaining close to the ski lifts of San Martino di Castrozza – Passo Rolle and the cross‑country skiing trails of both valleys. A crossroads of landscapes, history and traditions in the heart of the Dolomiti trentine.
