Discovering Carano

Carano, an Alpine village in the Val di Fiemme at 1,085 meters above sea level, offers spectacular views of the Lagorai chain and the Pale di San Martino, combining nature, wellness, and tradition in an authentic mountain setting.

The village has been known since the early 1900s for its sulphate–calcium–magnesium spring, appreciated for its beneficial effects on skin and rheumatic conditions. This natural resource, which flows right into the center of the village, has shaped Carano’s identity as a destination for wellness and relaxation.

Walking through its streets, visitors encounter rural houses, stone portals, and votive frescoes, while cultural and hiking routes lead to forests, alpine farms, and panoramic viewpoints. Among the highlights are the Church of San Nicolò, with valuable sacred artworks, and the traditional masi, which testify to the valley’s farming heritage.

Carano is also an excellent starting point for excursions into the Paneveggio – Pale di San Martino Nature Park, with trails leading to alpine huts, pastures, and scenic ridges. In summer, trekking, mountain biking, and nature walks are popular, while in winter the proximity to the ski areas of Alpe Cermis and the Ski Center Latemar makes it a perfect base for skiing and snowboarding.

Thanks to its strategic location, just minutes from Cavalese, Carano is an ideal destination for those seeking nature, sport, culture, and relaxation in an authentic Alpine environment.
