Discovering Le Palade

Located at 1,518 meters above sea level along the scenic Gampen Pass (Passo delle Palade), Le Palade is a mountain locality nestled among larch and spruce forests, connecting Lana in South Tyrol with Fondo in the Non Valley, Trentino. More than just a panoramic road, this pass is a meeting point of cultures, landscapes and historical memory.

The true gem of the area is the Gampen Pass Bunker, one of the largest fortifications in South Tyrol, built in the 1930s as part of the Alpine Wall. Today, it houses the Gampen Gallery, featuring a photographic exhibition and an extraordinary collection of over 2,500 minerals from across Europe, displayed in 40 showcases carved into the rock. Open from May to October, this museum offers a fascinating journey through geology and military history.

Le Palade is also an ideal starting point for nature hikes, cycling tours, and scenic walks. Trails offer breathtaking views of the Dolomites and the Adige Valley, winding through pristine and peaceful alpine landscapes. In winter, the area becomes a tranquil retreat for those who enjoy snowshoeing and quiet snowy scenery, far from the crowds.

With traditional mountain huts, alpine lodges, and an authentic atmosphere, Le Palade is perfect for lovers of slow tourism, Tyrolean culture, and pure nature.
