Discovering Passo Manghen

Manghen Pass, located at 2,042 meters above sea level, connects the Val di Fiemme with the Valsugana, crossing the spectacular Lagorai mountain range, one of the most untouched and authentic areas of Trentino. This alpine pass is a must-visit for cyclists, hikers, and motorcyclists, thanks to its scenic road and the many trails that wind through glacial lakes, rocky ridges, and high-altitude pastures.

The climb to the pass is considered a true challenge: from Borgo Valsugana, the ascent covers 23.2 km with 1,650 m of elevation gain and gradients reaching 15%; from Molina di Fiemme, it’s 16.3 km with 1,229 m of elevation gain. The Giro d’Italia has included Manghen Pass in several of its most iconic stages.

For hikers, the pass is a gateway to breathtaking routes such as the Monte Ziolera loop, the trail to Lago delle Buse, and treks to the Montalon Group, with panoramic stops like Forcella del Frate, Pala del Becco, and Forcella Ziolera. The landscape features porphyry rock formations, alpine wetlands, and rich biodiversity, including marmots, golden eagles, and vibrant summer blooms.

At Baita Manghen, a mountain hut and refreshment point, visitors can enjoy traditional Trentino dishes and sweeping views of the Lagorai peaks. The pass is accessible from May to October, while in winter it becomes a destination for snowshoeing and ski mountaineering.
