Discovering Lona-Lases

Nestled in the heart of the Cembra Valley, between the Piné Plateau and the foothills of the Lagorai range, Lona-Lases is a Trentino municipality composed of two historic villages: Lona and Lases. Surrounded by conifer forests, alpine lakes, and active porphyry quarries, the area is known for its mining heritage, the peaceful Lake Lases, and its rich natural environment.

Lake Lases, suitable for swimming and encircled by a scenic loop trail, is ideal for walking, sport fishing, scuba diving, and birdwatching. Its clear waters and sunny location make it a popular summer destination. Hiking trails lead to Val Bona, the Vasoni Bassa and Alta mountain huts, and along SAT trails 468 and 470, perfect for trekking and mountain biking.

The region is deeply tied to porphyry extraction, with active quarries and themed routes that explore the area's geological and industrial history. The historic center preserves the typical “cormèl” layout, with stone houses built closely together, and architectural landmarks such as the Church of San Leonardo and the Church of San Silvestro, both of medieval origin.

Lona-Lases is also known for its chestnut groves, with themed trails and festivals celebrating the Trentino chestnut, and for its terraced vineyards, part of the Trentino Wine and Flavours Route.
