Discovering Flavon

Flavon, a small and peaceful village in the lower Val di Non, in Trentino, is located along an ancient Roman route that once connected the Adige Valley to the Val di Tovel. Surrounded by apple orchards, woodlands, and hiking trails, Flavon offers a gentle and restorative landscape.

Once an imperial fiefdom of the noble Counts of Flavon, who died out in the 15th century, the village preserves fascinating historical traces. Among them are the ruins of Castel Flavon, hidden in the forest, and the Church of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist, documented as early as 1248 and rebuilt in the 16th century in the Clesian style. Its Renaissance portal, Gothic bell tower, and frescoes by the Baschenis, itinerant painters from Bergamo, make the church a true artistic gem of the valley.

Flavon is also a starting point for excursions to Monte Alto, the Rio Sass Canyon, and the San Romedio Sanctuary, one of the most evocative spiritual sites in Trentino.
