Discovering Lake Terlago

Just 10 minutes from Trento, nestled in the green basin of Terlago, Lake Terlago is one of the most scenic spots in the Vallelaghi area—perfect for those seeking unspoiled nature, relaxing walks, and sport fishing. Located at 416 meters above sea level, it is considered the most biologically productive hill lake in Trentino, thanks to its rich submerged vegetation and the wide variety of fish species that inhabit its waters.

Its brownish-olive hues, caused by aquatic flora, host pike, native lake trout, carp, tench, and chub, making it a favorite destination for experienced anglers. The lake covers an area of approximately 350,000 m² and is surrounded by accessible trails, suitable even for strollers—ideal for families, birdwatchers, and nature photographers.

Historically, the area features archaeological evidence dating back to the Late Paleolithic, proving human presence over 10,000 years ago. Nearby lies the village of Terlago, home to Castel Terlago (now a private residence) and the Church of San Pantaleone, built in the 16th century.

Its strategic location between Trento and the Paganella range, combined with the peaceful landscape, makes Lake Terlago a perfect day-trip destination, far from mass tourism yet easily accessible.
