Discovering Bocenago

Bocenago, nestled on the western slopes of Monte Toff, is one of the most authentic villages in the Val Rendena, famous for preserving its traditional rural architecture intact. Walking through its narrow streets, you are surrounded by a timeless atmosphere: stone houses with granite portals, wooden balconies, and sacred frescoes tell centuries of peasant life tied to the silvo-pastoral economy.

The heart of the village is marked by a unique fountain made of two large stones: one in granite, symbolizing the Adamello, and one in dolomite, representing the Dolomites of Brenta. Along the way, you discover picturesque views, granite fountains full of water, and simple but profound examples of folk art.

Among the things to see stands the Parish Church of Santa Margherita, which preserves an ancient structure dating back to 1345, expanded several times over the centuries. Inside, you can admire frescoes by Valentino Pupin and Johann Matthias Peskoller, and a unique work: the “Lamentation over the Dead Christ”, a painting from the 16th century, one of the earliest canvases in the Val Rendena.

Today, Bocenago combines tradition and modernity, with special attention to the preservation of historical and artistic heritage. It is also one of the best panoramic viewpoints in the valley, visible from almost all over Rendena, perfect for lovers of photography, cultural walks, and slow tourism, in a setting of authenticity and alpine beauty.
