Discovering Cimego

Cimego is a small village in the Valle del Chiese that combines unspoiled nature, history, and Alpine traditions, making it ideal for slow tourism in authentic landscapes. Located at 557 meters above sea level and crossed by the Rio Salùm, the village is historically divided between Villa and Quartinago, a medieval hamlet that has preserved its original layout. The area is also of geological interest and has yielded Roman inscriptions, evidence of an ancient and layered past.

Among the must-see sites are the Church of Sant’Antonio Abate (1482), with valuable sacred artworks, and the Church of San Martino (1635), the religious heart of the village. Not to be missed is the Ethnographic Path of the Rio Caino, an open-air museum featuring old mills, forges, votive chapels, and panels that recount traditional crafts, legends, and natural history. This trail is also suitable for families, with marked access points and rest areas. To dive into rural culture, the Casa Marascalchi Museum displays objects and memories of the peasant civilization of the Giudicarie valley.

Thanks to its location, Cimego is an excellent base for excursions to the Boniprati plateau, with meadows and forests perfect for summer trekking; in winter, ski mountaineering routes and a cross-country ski trail enrich the outdoor offer. Here, life follows the rhythm of the mountains: green landscapes, stone hamlets, and genuine flavors make every stay authentic and rejuvenating.
