Discovering Pieve di Bono

Pieve di Bono, nestled in the heart of the Valle del Chiese, is an authentic alpine destination rich in history, surrounded by the pristine landscapes of the Giudicarie Valleys in Trentino-Alto Adige. Now united with Prezzo, the municipality includes five charming hamlets: Agrone, Cologna, Creto, Por, and Strada, each with its own strong identity and deep-rooted traditions.

One of the main attractions is the Pieve of Santa Giustina, one of the seven historic parish churches of the Giudicarie, dating back to the 12th century. Inside, visitors can admire a cycle of 15th-century frescoes in Gothic-Giottesque style attributed to Giovanni Badile, a painter from Verona. Also worth visiting is Castel Romano, built in 1253 and once the residence of the Lords of Arco and Lodrone, now surrounded by a scenic park and used for cultural events. In Frugone, part of Agrone, stands the historic Casèl, home to the Magnifica Comunità Generale, a symbol of the region’s ancient self-governance.

Nature lovers can explore the nearby Val di Daone and the spectacular Val di Fumo, which lead to the Adamello Glacier, passing waterfalls, alpine huts, and breathtaking mountain views. In winter, the area hosts renowned ice climbing competitions, making Pieve di Bono a year-round destination for active travelers.

With its blend of culture, alpine scenery, and tradition, Pieve di Bono is the perfect choice for slow tourism, hiking, and cultural discovery.
