Discovering Pomarolo

Pomarolo is a quiet village nestled in the greenery of the Vallagarina, located in a natural hollow protected from the cold and winds, on the right side of the Adige River. Its name comes from the local dialect (“pom” = apple), referencing the historic apple cultivation still visible today in the surrounding fields of apples, vines, and cherries.

Strolling through Pomarolo, you’ll discover its ancient origins, from the ruins of Castel Barco to the Church of Sant’Antonio, and the evocative Servis plateau, where traces of the Romanesque period remain. Don’t miss the Church of Le Salette overlooking the village, the church of Savignano, and the small chapel of Chiusole.

Pomarolo was also home to famous 18th-century figures, such as Felice Fontana, physicist at the court of Pietro Leopoldo of Tuscany, his brother Gregorio, a mathematician and statesman of the Cisalpine Republic, and Gerolamo Tartarotti, a philosopher known across Europe for his stance against witchcraft superstitions.

Just minutes from the Rovereto Nord motorway exit, Pomarolo is easy to reach and ideal to explore, especially during Cort en festa, a local festival that opens up the historic arcades with delicious Trentino dishes.

From Servis, set out on trails by foot or mountain bike, with stunning views over the Adige Valley, or follow the path toward the Cimana, the mountain above Pomarolo. A perfect place for lovers of trekking and authentic nature in Trentino.
