Discovering Passo di San Antonio

Passo di Sant’Antonio, located at 1,893 meters above sea level in the Paganella mountain group, is a hidden gem for hikers seeking breathtaking views and authentic alpine experiences in western Trentino. Nestled between Monte Terlago and Cima Paganella, the pass is accessible via CAI Trail 606, starting from the village of Terlago, situated between the Adige Valley and the Valle dei Laghi.

The trail to the pass winds through pine forests, alpine meadows, and rocky ridges, offering a rewarding ascent for experienced hikers. Once at the top, visitors are greeted by a stunning 360-degree panorama that stretches across Trento, the Brenta Dolomites, the Val di Non, and even the northern reaches of Lake Garda. The scenery is especially captivating in autumn, when the foliage transforms the landscape into a canvas of warm colors.

Passo di Sant’Antonio also serves as a key point for those continuing toward Cima Paganella (2,091 m), home to the panoramic Rifugio La Roda, the only mountain hut along the route. The full hike covers approximately 14 km with a vertical gain of over 1,100 meters, making it ideal for well-equipped trekkers looking for solitude and natural beauty.
