Discovering Spiazzo

Spiazzo, a historic village known for its knife sharpeners, is located in the heart of the lush Val Rendena, in the province of Trento. An ideal destination for families and sports enthusiasts, the village is close to the spectacular Adamello Brenta Natural Park and the wide range of winter sports offered in Pinzolo and Madonna di Campiglio. Spiazzo is also home to the fascinating Adamellina White War Museum and the charming Parish Church of S. Vigilio, where legend says the saint was martyred in 405 A.D., struck with clubs and wooden clogs by enraged pagans.

The village is divided into the hamlets of Borzago, Fisto, Mortaso, and Ches, nestled between the Brenta and Adamello-Presanella massifs. The White War Museum, set in the old elementary school, houses artifacts recovered from the glaciers of Adamello-Presanella and Ortler-Cevedale, including military equipment, personal items, period clothing, sleds, and skis. These objects recall the “recuperanti”, villagers who, after the war, climbed the peaks to bring down soldiers’ belongings for reuse or sale.

Spiazzo also offers many opportunities for leisure and sports: the municipal swimming pool features two indoor pools, one Olympic-size, an outdoor pool, a whirlpool, snack bar, and courses for all ages; there are also football, tennis, bocce, and mini-golf facilities. In winter, its strategic location allows easy access to the ski resorts of Pinzolo and Madonna di Campiglio, making Spiazzo an ideal base for alpine and cross-country skiing.
