Discovering San Lorenzo Dorsino

San Lorenzo Dorsino is a young municipality in Trentino, established in 2015 from the merger of San Lorenzo in Banale and Dorsino, two villages that still preserve their authentic charm and age-old traditions. Nestled on the south-eastern slopes of the Brenta Dolomites, it is the gateway to the spectacular Val d’Ambiez and the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, a paradise for nature lovers. Just a few kilometers away are the crystal-clear Lake Molveno and the Comano Thermal Baths, perfect for those seeking relaxation and wellness.

The symbol of the area is the ciuìga, a traditional salami with turnips that has become a Slow Food presidium, celebrated every autumn with a lively festival.

San Lorenzo Dorsino is ideal for an active holiday: from easy walks to Dòs Béo, suitable for families, to more challenging hikes to Malga Asbelz, or along the San Vili Trail and the Dolomiti di Brenta Bike route for bikers. The area also includes the WWF Oasis of Nembia and its small, swimmable lake. For sports enthusiasts, there is a modern sports center with tennis courts, football fields, an indoor swimming pool, and the Squirrel Park, offering 38 climbing routes for both adults and children.

The village of San Lorenzo in Banale, listed among the “Most Beautiful Villages of Italy,” preserves its rural soul, visible in its stone houses, fountains, and small frescoed churches by the Baschenis. Dorsino also holds treasures such as the 15th-century Church of San Giorgio.
