Discovering Daone

Daone, one of the oldest villages in the Giudicarie, lies at the entrance of the Val di Daone, gateway to the wild Val di Fumo and the Adamello massif. The area is striking and authentic, with centuries-old chestnut groves, traditional mountain huts, and large reservoirs that shape a rugged Alpine landscape.

The village preserves important historical landmarks: the Church of San Bartolomeo (dating back to around the year 1000), whose portico was used for community assemblies in the 14th century, and in the main square the monumental trunk of the Avèz de Boaz, a giant silver fir transported from Malga Boazzo in 1955.

The Val di Daone is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts: in summer, hikes in the Adamello Brenta Nature Park lead to mountain huts and peaks such as Re di Castello; in winter, the valley is renowned for ice climbing on its frozen waterfalls, attracting climbers and athletes from all over. Along the valley flows the Chiese River, framed by rocky walls and educational areas that illustrate local fauna and geology. From Pracul, the Casa della Fauna introduces visitors to the landscape and its trails.

Further up, the lakes and dams of Malga Boazzo and Malga Bissina open the way to the spectacular Val di Fumo, which divides the Adamello ranges and offers breathtaking scenery for trekking, photography, and slow tourism.
