Discovering Tuenno

Tuenno, a village of just over 2,000 inhabitants, is a hidden gem set at the entrance to the Val di Tovel, nestled at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites and the Anauni Mountains. Surrounded by imposing mountains, lush forests, and small turquoise lakes, this magical place is ideal for holidays filled with outdoor activities, relaxation, and fine food and wine.

The history of Tuenno dates back to prehistoric times, with traces of ancient settlements. The village experienced periods of great prosperity, becoming a bishopric possession in 1027. The rural tradition is still visible in the small stone and wooden houses, while today the village thrives mainly on apple cultivation.

Among the highlights is the Church of Sant’Orsola e Compagne, with its precious gold-decorated wooden altar and fine 20th-century frescoes. The Church of Santa Emerenziana dominates the entrance to the Val di Tovel, showcasing a splendid 17th-century altarpiece.

The real beauty of Tuenno lies in the wild nature that surrounds it. The famous Lake Tovel, at 1,100 meters above sea level in the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park, was once famous for the reddening of its waters until the 1960s. Trekking lovers can explore trails through forests and breathtaking landscapes.

For thrill-seekers, the canyons of the park offer climbing opportunities, and the Noce river is perfect for rafting. In winter, the valley features slopes for both downhill and cross-country skiing, with nearby resorts like Ruffrè-Mendola and Passo della Mendola, as well as snowshoeing and ski mountaineering routes.

The local food and wine scene celebrates the renowned Val di Non apples and wines from the flourishing vineyards.
