Discovering Ruffrè

Located at 1,200 meters above sea level in the heart of the stunning Val di Non, the village of Ruffrè-Mendola is one of the most captivating destinations in Trentino-South Tyrol.

In summer, Ruffrè-Mendola is an ideal starting point for hiking and trekking, with well-marked trails winding through lush woodlands and leading to panoramic peaks such as Monte Penegal and Passo della Mendola. From here, visitors can enjoy sweeping vistas over the Val d’Adige, Merano, and the Austrian Alps. During winter, the area transforms into a cozy ski destination thanks to the Monte Nock ski area, offering slopes suitable for both beginners and experienced skiers, as well as trails for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

Local culture is deeply rooted in Tyrolean traditions, reflected in family names, place names, and rural architecture. Among the cultural highlights are the Church of San Sebastiano, surrounded by greenery, and the legendary Diavola Gorge, steeped in mystery and folklore. A must-see is the historic Mendola Funicular, inaugurated in 1903, which connects the pass to Caldaro and stands as a symbol of the Austro-Hungarian era of tourism.

Ruffrè-Mendola also serves as a strategic base for exploring nearby attractions such as the famous San Romedio Sanctuary, Lake Caldaro, and the natural wonders of the Val di Non.
