Discovering Livo

Located at 740 meters above sea level on the Mezzalone Plateau, Livo is one of the oldest villages in the Val di Non, Trentino. With fewer than 900 inhabitants, it retains an authentic charm made of peaceful silence, historic architecture, and breathtaking alpine landscapes.

The heart of the village is the Palazzo Aliprandini Laifenthurn, also known as the Castello della Rosa or Toresela, dating back to the 11th century. Once a noble residence, it now houses the town hall and stands as one of the most significant historical landmarks in the area.

Among the religious attractions, the Church of the Nativity of Mary in Varollo stands out, featuring medieval frescoes and works by Carlo Pozzi, including a wooden Crucifixion and a stunning Pietà painted on copper. The Church of San Martino, first mentioned in 1209, has undergone several expansions over the centuries, culminating in the addition of the sacristy in 1856.

For trekking enthusiasts and those seeking immersive experiences, Livo offers the evocative trail “Work, Fairies, and Witches” - a 5 km thematic path with 250 meters of elevation gain and 21 artistic installations, perfect for families and curious explorers.

Nearby, visitors can explore the ruins of Zoccolo Castle, the Rocca di Livo on Caslir, and Altaguardia Castle in Bresimo—powerful reminders of a feudal past still alive in local memory.
