Discovering Fedaia Lake

Located at 2,053 meters above sea level in the heart of the Fassa Dolomites, Fedaia Lake is one of the most scenic spots in Trentino-Alto Adige, nestled between the Marmolada massif to the south and the Mesola ridge to the north. This artificial alpine lake, created in 1956 by damming the Avisio stream, stretches for about 2 kilometers and offers spectacular scenery in every season.

Ideal for a mountain holiday focused on nature, trekking, and landscape photography, Fedaia Lake is accessible from Canazei via the SS641 and serves as a starting point for unforgettable hikes. Popular trails include the Viel del Pan path, which connects the lake to Fredarola Hut and Pordoi Pass, and trail 606 leading to Pian dei Fiacconi Hut, with close-up views of the Marmolada glacier.

Beyond its natural beauty, the lake holds historical significance: near the pass is the Museum of the Great War, featuring wartime artifacts recovered from the glacier, bearing witness to the Dolomite front during World War I. The Fedaia Dam, with its hydroelectric power station, is a fine example of alpine engineering harmoniously integrated into the landscape.

Fedaia Lake is a perfect destination for those seeking panoramic hikes, cultural experiences, and peaceful moments surrounded by the majesty of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
