Discovering La Porta del Monte

La Porta del Monte, located in the municipality of Trodena nel Parco Naturale in the province of Bolzano, is a scenic hiking destination considered the main access point to the Monte Corno Nature Park. Nestled between the Dolomiti di Fiemme and the Anterivo Plateau, this area offers a rich and varied landscape, with larch forests, alpine meadows, and breathtaking views of the “Tre Corni”: Corno Nero, Corno Bianco, and Monte Corno.

The area is ideal for hiking, e-biking, and snowshoeing in winter. Popular trails include the Malga Cislon loop, the European long-distance path E5, and the route to the Palù Longa biotope, where wild orchids and diverse alpine fauna can be observed. A panoramic viewpoint above Trodena, accessible from the historic center, offers a spectacular view of the geological fault line that separates the park’s rock formations.

Culturally, Trodena preserves centuries-old traditions, with historic farmsteads (masi), porphyry-paved streets, and a monumental lime tree over 700 years old. The project “Le mura raccontano” (“The walls speak”), promoted by the park’s visitor center, enhances local history through educational panels and themed walking routes.
