Discovering Forcella Giralba

The Forcella Giralba, at 2,431 meters, is one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in the Sexten Dolomites, within the Tre Cime Nature Park. This alpine pass, surrounded by imposing peaks and rocky walls, offers stunning views of the iconic Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Mount Paterno, and the Cadini di Misurina group.

The most common starting point to reach the pass is the Rifugio Carducci at 2,297 meters, which connects to the valley floor via the trail that begins in the Val Giralba near Auronzo di Cadore. From there, about an hour’s walk leads to the pass along a well-marked trail that alternates between rocky sections and scree slopes, with spectacular panoramas unfolding at every turn.

The hike to the Forcella Giralba is of medium difficulty and best suited for trained hikers accustomed to alpine paths. Along the way, you pass through pristine environments rich in alpine flora and high-altitude habitats, with chances to spot marmots and chamois.

From the pass, hikers enjoy a magnificent view both towards the Val Giralba and the Tre Cime basin, making it an unforgettable stop for photography and mountain lovers. In summer, the route offers unique emotions, with contrasts between Dolomite rocks, flowering meadows, and the clear alpine sky.

The Forcella Giralba is a must-see for those wishing to experience the majesty of the Dolomites and discover one of the most authentic corners of Cadore.
