Discovering Zoppè di Cadore

Zoppè di Cadore, the smallest and highest municipality in the province of Belluno, is a gem nestled in the valley of the Rutorto stream, at the foot of the majestic Mount Pelmo, standing at 1,461 meters above sea level.

From Zoppè, spectacular trails lead to Rifugio Venezia, Passo Rutorto, and Monte Penna, offering unforgettable views of Pelmo, Antelao, and Civetta. Routes like the one to Rifugio Talamini are also suitable for families, with idyllic glimpses of traditional barns and flower-filled clearings. In winter, the area becomes a paradise for snowshoeing and winter trekking.

The Church of Sant’Anna, featuring an altarpiece attributed to Titian Vecellio, is the spiritual symbol of the village. The Ethnographic Museum tells the story of charcoal production and rural life, while the hamlets of Bortolot, Sagui, and Villa preserve traditional mountain architecture. Fun fact: Zoppè was the hometown of Antonio Tomea, the province’s first emigrant ice cream maker, who obtained Vienna’s first official license to sell ice cream from a cart.

A place where the wild beauty of the Dolomites meets historical memory and alpine simplicity—perfect for those who wish to discover the most authentic side of Cadore.
