Discovering Tambre

Tambre, located at the foot of Mount Cavallo (2,250 m), is a charming village in the Alpago area, surrounded by woods, meadows, and stunning views that extend to Lake Santa Croce and the Cansiglio Forest. It is a destination that combines nature, sport, and culture, perfect for an active yet relaxing holiday in every season.

In summer, Tambre is the ideal starting point for hiking, horseback riding, and cycling, with trails leading to Col Indes or the Rifugio Semenza at 2020 meters. Its proximity to the lake allows visitors to enjoy windsurfing and other water sports, while Mount Dolada is loved by those who practice paragliding, climbing, and trekking. In winter, when the Cansiglio is covered in snow, Tambre turns into a paradise for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ski touring, offering unique, untouched landscapes.

Tambre is also rich in history and tradition: the Ethnographic Museum of the Cimbri in Pian Osteria and the village of Vallorch tell the story of this ancient Germanic people, while the Cansiglio woods recall the period when the Republic of Venice used its timber for shipbuilding.

Not to be missed are the Alpine Botanical Garden “Giangio Lorenzoni”, with nearly 1,000 plant species, and the evocative House of the Alchemist, a museum that reveals the symbols and mysteries of alchemy. Finally, the whimsical House of Books, created by sculptor Livio De Marchi, enchants visitors with its wooden sculptures entirely dedicated to the world of reading.
