Discovering Quero

Quero, a hamlet of the municipality of Quero Vas in the province of Belluno, is a destination rich in history and natural beauty, nestled between the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park and the banks of the Piave River. Located on a plateau at the foot of Mount Cornella, Quero is the perfect starting point for a slow-paced holiday combining nature, culture, and Venetian tradition.

One of the most significant landmarks is the German War Memorial of Quero, a commemorative monument from World War I built between 1936 and 1939, housing the remains of over 5,000 German soldiers. Nearby, the Vincenzo Colognese Piave Museum offers a deep dive into the wartime history of the region, with artifacts and testimonies from the Piave front.

Nature lovers can explore the Schievenin Valley, a well-equipped area with hiking and mountain biking trails, picnic spots, climbing routes, and a small natural history museum showcasing local wildlife. From Quero, visitors can also access Mount Cornella (630 m), part of the Monte Grappa Group, and the scenic Alta Via degli Eroi (“High Route of the Heroes”), a trail through alpine pastures, WWI fortifications, and breathtaking landscapes.

The historic center of Quero features stone buildings and the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the spiritual heart of the village. Local festivals and traditional fairs celebrate Veneto’s cultural identity with typical food, music, and crafts.
