Discovering Forcella Moschesin

Forcella Moschesin, a spectacular mountain pass located at 1,940 meters between the Zoldo Valley and the Agordo Valley, is one of the most captivating hiking destinations in the Belluno Dolomites, within the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park. Immersed in a wild and silent alpine landscape, Forcella Moschesin offers breathtaking views of the San Sebastiano–Tamer Group, Mount Pramper, and the surrounding valleys, making it an ideal escape for nature lovers and trekking enthusiasts.

The site is also known for its historical significance. Here stands the Forcella Moschesin Barracks, a military structure built in the late 19th century as part of the Kingdom of Italy’s “Yellow Line” defensive system. The barracks were abandoned and destroyed during the retreat following the Battle of Caporetto in 1917, but the ruins remain visible and accessible, offering a poignant testimony to the Great War in the Dolomites.

The area is crossed by scenic hiking trails, including the loop route connecting the Bruto Carestiato Mountain Hut to Malga Pramper, passing through the pass. This intermediate-level trail winds through larch forests, alpine meadows, and dramatic Dolomite cliffs, and is suitable for summer hikes and winter snowshoeing.

Forcella Moschesin, Belluno is a perfect destination to experience the most authentic side of the Dolomites—where untouched nature, historical memory, and postcard-worthy panoramas come together in a truly unforgettable way.
