Discovering Mazzin

Nestled in the stunning Val di Fassa, Mazzin is the smallest municipality in the valley and the only one entirely Ladin-speaking. This authentic alpine village offers a peaceful retreat for travelers seeking culture, scenic hikes and a deep connection to the traditions of Trentino’s Dolomites.

Mazzin is made up of three hamlets: Mazzin, Campestrin and Fontanazzo, each with picturesque corners and historical charm. A key cultural landmark is the Pèster de Fascia, a life-size bronze monument in Fontanazzo depicting a shepherd, honoring the valley’s pastoral heritage. The village also hosts a historic meteorological station, useful for planning outdoor activities year-round.

Nature lovers will find Mazzin an ideal starting point for hikes into the wild and quiet Val Udai, as well as to iconic destinations like Lake Antermoia, nestled among Dolomite peaks. The nearby Val Duron offers panoramic trails and links to Campitello di Fassa.

In winter, Mazzin is crossed by the famous Marcialonga, an international cross-country ski race, and is well connected to the Val di Fassa–Carezza ski area, featuring modern lifts and scenic slopes for all skill levels.

With its Ladin culture, breathtaking landscapes and alpine sports, Mazzin is a welcoming and authentic destination.
