Discovering Villandro - Villanders

Nestled on a hill between Chiusa and Barbiano, Villandro is a charming South Tyrolean village with authentic character and a deep connection to nature. Its highlight is the Villandro Alp, one of the most beautiful hiking areas in the region. Hikers and mountain bikers can choose from a variety of trails, ranging from easy routes through alpine pastures and small lakes to more challenging paths across moorlands and untouched landscapes, always with breathtaking views over the Isarco Valley and the Dolomites.

Among the most remarkable destinations are the Church of the Dead, the Latzfons Cross – the highest pilgrimage site in Europe – and the Corno del Renon, one of South Tyrol’s most famous viewpoints. In winter, the plateau turns into a paradise for cross-country skiing, offering perfectly groomed tracks and peaceful snowy scenery.

Villandro also boasts a rich cultural heritage. It is home to one of the largest archaeological sites in South Tyrol, proof of human settlements since ancient times. Equally fascinating is the Villandro Mine, once one of the most important in Tyrol, now open to visitors to tell the story of miners’ lives and hard work.

With its alpine landscapes, traditions, and history, Villandro is the ideal destination for those who want to discover the authentic soul of South Tyrol through nature, sport, and culture.
