Discovering Niedervintl
Located at 756 meters above sea level, Niedervintl is the main center of the municipality of Vintl, in the province of Bolzano. The village stretches along the Fundres stream, which flows into the Rienza River, and is surrounded by meadows, forests, and mountains that invite exploration in every season. The area is crossed by the Puster Valley Cycle Path, perfect for discovering the region sustainably.
Among the highlights is the Parish Church of the Annunciation, built in 1760 in Baroque style, featuring frescoes and decorations that reflect the village’s religious history. Not to be missed is the Loden World Museum, dedicated to South Tyrolean textile tradition, where visitors can learn about the production of the famous woolen fabric and purchase handcrafted items.
The Grubenfeld recreation area is popular with families and children, offering green spaces, playgrounds, and themed trails. Nearby, you’ll find the Schöneck Castle, birthplace of poet Oswald von Wolkenstein, and the Bergl Trail, which provides panoramic views and illustrated panels about local legends.
Thanks to the Vintl train station, the village is well connected to major tourist destinations in South Tyrol, such as Brunico, Bressanone, and the Gitschberg-Jochtal ski area, just 15 km away. In winter, the region becomes a peaceful haven for snowshoeing and scenic walks.
