Discovering Percha

Nestled in the heart of the Val Pusteria (Puster Valley), just 4 km from Brunico (Bruneck), the village of Percha (Perca) is a peaceful South Tyrolean gem surrounded by alpine meadows and conifer forests. Stretching from the banks of the Rienz River to the slopes of the Rieserferner Group, Percha offers a remarkable elevation range of over 2,200 meters and a rich variety of landscapes.

One of its most striking natural attractions is the Earth Pyramids of Plata, impressive clay columns topped with boulders, sculpted by centuries of erosion. They can be reached via a scenic 45-minute hike from Oberwielenbach (Vila di Sopra) and are considered among the most significant earth pyramid formations in the Puster Valley.

Percha also serves as a gateway to the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park, home to more than 30 glaciers and a diverse alpine ecosystem. Hiking trails lead to panoramic alpine huts such as Gönneralm, Lercheralm, and Haidacher Alm, perfect for a culinary break with mountain views.

In winter, the Ried cable car, located next to the train station, connects Percha directly to the Plan de Corones (Kronplatz) ski area, part of the Dolomiti Superski network, offering over 120 km of slopes and attractions like the Messner Mountain Museum Corones.

For cycling enthusiasts, the Pusterbike Cycle Path runs through the valley floor, linking Percha with San Candido (Innichen) and Fortezza (Franzensfeste)—a scenic route suitable for all ages.
