Discovering Passo della Sella

Passo Sella (Sellajoch in German, Jëuf de Sela in Ladin) is one of the most fascinating alpine passes in the Dolomites, located at 2,240 meters above sea level between the provinces of Bolzano and Trento. It connects Canazei in Val di Fassa to Selva di Val Gardena via the scenic SS242 road, and separates the Sella Group from the imposing Sassolungo massif.

In summer, Passo Sella is a top destination for hikers, climbers, and cyclists. Iconic trails such as the Sassolungo and Sasso Piatto loops offer immersive experiences in the Dolomite landscape. The area known as the “City of Stones” is ideal for walking and climbing, while the Naturonda trail provides an educational route focused on alpine geology and flora.

In winter, Passo Sella becomes a strategic hub within the Dolomiti Superski circuit, with direct access to the famous Sellaronda Skitour. The slopes of Col Rodella and Belvedere are well-connected and suitable for skiers of all levels, with alpine huts offering hospitality and traditional cuisine.

The area is also historically linked to international mountaineering: via ferratas, legendary climbing routes, and mountain huts like Rifugio Comici make Passo Sella a reference point for outdoor enthusiasts and mountain lovers.

Easily accessible from Ortisei, Campitello di Fassa, and Selva di Val Gardena, Passo Sella is an ideal destination for adventure, culture, and relaxation at high altitude.
