Discovering Vallada Agordina

Vallada Agordina is a charming municipality in the Val Biois, located about 1 km from Canale d’Agordo and 3 km from Falcade, along the Biois Stream. The town is connected to other villages in the valley by Provincial Road 346, while the alpine passes Passo San Pellegrino and Passo Valles provide access to Val di Fassa and Primiero. A cycle-pedestrian path crosses the stream, linking Vallada with Canale d’Agordo and Falcade.

The municipality includes the villages of Celat, Mas, Sachet, Andrich, Toffol, Piaz, and Cogul, arranged on a sunny and panoramic slope at the foot of the Marmolada group, with Piz Zorlet and Cime di Pezza. On the opposite side, the Pale di San Martino dominate the southern landscape. Vallada Agordina preserves traditional haylofts (tabià) and historic houses, offering numerous opportunities for hikers and mountain enthusiasts.

A dense network of trails and ancient mule tracks connects the villages, while many CAI trails allow visitors to explore the natural and mountainous heritage. Vallada is a stage of the Alta Via dei Pastori, a multi-day historical and cultural trek. The Val Biois is also called the “Valley with Saints at the Windows,” thanks to the religious frescoes on many house facades, some dating back to the 17th century, mapped and signposted for visitors.

The new cultural route “L’Orto Dimenticato” highlights traditional mountain agriculture, with thematic stops dedicated to hemp, barley, potatoes, and wild herbs. Not to be missed is the Monumental Church of San Simon, declared an Italian National Monument in 1877, a testament to the rich artistic and cultural history of the village.
