Discovering Predazzo

Predazzo, known as the "Geological Garden of the Alps", boasts the world's highest concentration of unique geological formations. In the town's central square, the Dolomites Geological Museum houses an extraordinary collection of rocks, minerals and fossils, along with scientific publications detailing the formation of the Dolomites.

A must-see is the Dòs Capèl Geological Trail, located between Passo Feudo and Alpe di Pampeago (2,000–2,200 m a.s.l.). Here you can discover ancient marine layers, beaches, shells and sea stars from pre-dinosaur times, as well as lava, ash and lapilli from the ancient Predazzo volcano.

The historic town center, dominated by the neo‑Gothic Church of Saints Filippo and Giacomo (built in 1870), preserves period houses adorned with frescoes and the oldest church, San Nicolò, dating back to the 1500s.

For easy walks, the trail to the Sottosassa Gorge is particularly scenic, offering views of the Travignolo Waterfalls under porphyry cliffs, popular also for sport climbing. In the Fontanelle area, near the Dolomites Cycle Path and the sports field, lies the Biolake, a natural swimming pond surrounded by meadows. Its phytopurification system maintains water quality without chemicals.

Predazzo is a year‑round tourist destination, equipped with a public swimming pool and modern ski lifts serving the Latemar Dolomites Ski Area and the Bellamonte‑Alpe Lusia Ski Area. Crossed by the famous Marcialonga course, it is also home to the Giuseppe Dal Ben Ski Jump Stadium, host of three Nordic Ski World Championships (1991, 2003, 2013).

Predazzo blends nature, sport and culture, offering unique mountain experiences in the heart of the Dolomites.
