Discovering Moos in Passeier

Moso in Passiria, the largest municipality in Val Passiria, is an alpine gem nestled among the majestic peaks of South Tyrol. Located at the confluence of the Plan and Passirio streams, it includes the hamlets of Plan, Plata, Corvara, Stulles, and Ulvas, stretching up to the 3,480-meter-high Cima Altissima.

The area is crossed by the Merano High Mountain Trail, one of the most spectacular hiking routes in South Tyrol, winding through the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park. In winter, the Plan ski area offers ski slopes, sledding, and snowshoeing in a fairy-tale landscape. Waterfalls, canyons like the Passirio Canyon, and peaks over 3,000 meters make Moso a top destination for trekking, climbing, and outdoor sports.

Cultural highlights include the Bunker Mooseum, an interactive museum showcasing local history and alpine wildlife, and the Pass Museum, part of the architectural project at the Timmelsjoch Pass, which connects Val Passiria to Austria’s Ötztal. Along the alpine road, five museum installations designed by architect Werner Tscholl blend art, nature, and historical memory.

The Wegerhof cheese dairy is a prime example of local dairy production, offering artisan cheeses and yogurt.
