Discovering Resia Pass

Resia Pass, located at 1,504 meters above sea level, is one of the most fascinating destinations in Alta Val Venosta, where the cultures of Italy, Austria, and Switzerland converge. Its most iconic landmark is the sunken bell tower in Lake Resia, a symbol deeply tied to the history of Curon Venosta, a village evacuated and partly submerged in 1950 to create an artificial dam. This almost fairy-tale setting attracts thousands of visitors each year.

The area is beloved for its outdoor activities in every season. In summer, visitors can hike through alpine trails, explore the nearby Vallelunga and Roia valleys, or cycle along the ancient Via Claudia Augusta. Lake Resia offers the chance to try sailing and kitesurfing, while winter turns it into a playground for snowkiting and ice walking. The nearby Belpiano-Malga San Valentino ski area provides slopes for all skill levels, both alpine and cross-country.

From a cultural and historical perspective, the area offers many points of interest. Beyond the lake and its bell tower, visitors can discover the source of the Adige River, historic churches such as San Valentino alla Muta and Sant’Anna in Curon, wartime bunkers from World War I, and the Alta Val Venosta Museum. Local traditions come to life in annual festivals and celebrations such as the Sacred Heart fires and Krampus parades, reinforcing the region’s deep-rooted identity.

Resia Pass also promotes sustainable tourism, thanks to the Alto Adige Guest Pass, which allows guests to travel easily using public transport across the region. A wide range of accommodation options, from mountain lodges to eco-friendly hotels, showcases regional flavors and local products, ensuring authentic experiences all year round.
