Discovering San Vigilio

In the heart of the Dolomites of South Tyrol, San Vigilio di Marebbe is located at an altitude of 1,285 meters. It is a hamlet of the municipality of Marebbe (BZ) and serves as the gateway to the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.


In winter, San Vigilio is part of the Plan de Corones ski area, included in the Dolomiti Superski circuit, offering modern lifts, alpine skiing slopes, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing through breathtaking landscapes. The Erta slope, host to Women's World Cup races, is among the most technical and spectacular in the entire circuit.


During summer, the village becomes a paradise for hikers, trekkers, and mountain biking enthusiasts, with trails leading to the Fanes, Sennes, and Lavarella mountain huts, as well as the enchanting Lake Braies. San Vigilio is also a cultural gem: the Ladin language, an ancient tongue, is still spoken here, reflecting the deep identity of Ladinia. The historic center features the Church of San Vigilio, with rococo frescoes and a gothic bell tower, alongside the monument to Caterina Lanz, a local heroine of the Napoleonic wars.
