Discovering Brixen

Artistic and cultural heart of South Tyrol, Bressanone is one of the most charming towns in the region, located in the heart of the Isarco Valley, where the Rienza River flows into the Isarco. Surrounded by orchards, vineyards and spectacular mountains, Bressanone is a perfect blend of history, culture and nature.

Strolling through the historic centre, you’ll discover its famous arcades, picturesque squares and artistic gems such as the Cathedral with its frescoed cloister, the White Tower, and the Bishop’s Palace, home to the Diocesan Museum and the Nativity Scene Museum. Also worth visiting is the fascinating Pharmacy Museum. Just a few kilometres away, the Abbey of Novacella welcomes visitors with art, spirituality, and excellent wines.

Lively in every season, Bressanone hosts events all year round: from gourmet weeks to the famous Christmas Markets, filled with lights, flavours and Alpine traditions.

The surrounding area offers hikes for all levels: from easy walks like the Karlspromenade or the trail to Lake Varna, to more challenging routes to the Frozen Lakes or along the Dolomites High Route No. 2. Cycling enthusiasts can explore the Isarco Valley Cycle Path or tackle MTB trails through alpine huts and forests.

In winter, the Plose-Bressanone ski area is a paradise for athletes: alpine skiing on the legendary Trametsch slope, cross-country skiing, tobogganing, snow parks, and ski touring routes.
