Discovering Kiens
Chienes (Kiens) is one of the most authentic villages in the Val Pusteria, in the heart of South Tyrol, and an ideal destination for those seeking nature, culture, and active holidays in the Dolomites. Located at 784 meters above sea level along the Rienza River, the village is surrounded by forests and meadows that invite visitors to hikes, walks, and cycling tours.
The cultural heritage is rich and fascinating: the Parish Church of San Sigismondo, with its Gothic frescoes and a precious Baroque altar, is considered one of the most beautiful Gothic churches in Tyrol. Not far away stands the imposing Casteldarne Castle (Schloss Ehrenburg), a noble residence that dominates the landscape and tells centuries of history.
