Discovering Passo Fedaia
The Fedaia Pass is one of the most impressive access points in the Dolomites, located at an altitude of about 2,057 metres between the majestic peaks of Mount Marmolada and the Sella Group. This Alpine pass is an unmissable destination for lovers of nature, sport and culture.
The Fedaia Pass, from the Ladin ‘feida’ (sheep) because it is an ancient grazing area, offers spectacular views of the Dolomites, which can be admired during alpine skiing sessions in winter, or by trekking on special trails in summer. Also appreciated by cyclists, for the Malga Ciapela straight. The area is rich in history and traditions: the mining and military past is mixed with local legends, while the refuges and malgas offer typical gastronomic specialities. On the Pass, it is possible to visit the Marmolada Great War Museum, which houses around 700 war relics.
The Fedaia Pass is home to the famous Fedaia Lake, a glacial basin set among the mountains, perfect for hiking and relaxing. The pass is often included in the stages of the prestigious Giro d'Italia bicycle race and in the programme of many car and motor rallies and various sporting events. Its strategic position makes it easy to reach other locations in the Dolomites, such as Canazei, Selva di Val Gardena and the Marmolada, the Queen of the Dolomites.
