Discovering Innichen
San Candido, including the villages of Versciaco, Prato Drava, and Monte San Candido, is located at 1,175 metres above sea level in the enchanting Dolomiti di Sesto Nature Park, in the heart of the Tre Cime / 3 Zinnen area.
In summer, San Candido becomes a paradise for hikers, cyclists, and mountain lovers. Trails winding through aromatic forests and alpine meadows offer spectacular views of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, one of the most iconic symbols of the Dolomites. Families love the famous San Candido–Lienz cycle path, suitable even for young children, while those seeking relaxation find peace in mountain huts or sunny meadows. Sports and fun are not lacking either, with tennis, squash, the Acquafun aquatic centre ideal for all ages, and the thrilling summer Fun Bob toboggan run, the longest of the Dolomites.
In winter, San Candido is transformed into a fairytale setting. The ski slopes of the 3 Zinnen Dolomites area, together with perfectly groomed cross‑country trails and snowshoe excursions in the silent snowy woods, make it an ideal destination for lovers of snow. The traditional Christmas market, with its romantic wooden chalets, warm lights, and enchanting atmosphere, draws visitors from all over Europe each year, offering authentic festive magic.
But San Candido is also culture. The Dolomythos Museum, dedicated to the myths, geology, and legends of the Dolomites, fascinates both adults and children. The historic town centre, crowned by the splendid Romanesque Collegiate Church, one of the most significant in all of South Tyrol, tells a millennia‑old story of art, spirituality, and tradition.
Whether for an active holiday or a stay focused on well‑being and relaxation, San Candido welcomes every guest with its authentic hospitality, excellent local cuisine, and a deep connection to nature. Here, every season is an experience to live.
