Discovering Vigo di Fassa
Vigo di Fassa, now part of the new municipality of San Giovanni di Fassa, is one of the most charming jewels of Trentino, included among the “Most Beautiful Villages of Italy.” Located in a panoramic position, Vigo overlooks the Fassa Valley offering breathtaking views of the Dolomites, from the Catinaccio group to the Marmolada, the “queen of the Dolomites.” This location is the ideal starting point for nature and sport lovers: hikers, climbers, and bikers can choose from numerous trails set in unique landscapes, such as the Catinaccio group and the Ciampedie paths.
In winter, Vigo transforms into a paradise for families and ski enthusiasts. The Ciampedie ski area, easily reachable by cable car from the town center, offers slopes suitable for all levels, including those dedicated to champions like Gustav Thöni and Alberto Tomba. The Kinderpark Ciampedie is a specially equipped area for children where they can safely have fun while parents enjoy the snow.
Not far away is the Costalunga-Carezza ski area, which connects Vigo di Fassa with Nova Levante in South Tyrol, expanding skiing opportunities. Ladin culture is an integral part of local identity: the Ladin Museum of Fassa, located in Vigo, houses rich ethnographic collections that tell the story, traditions, and language of this mountain people.
Vigo di Fassa is thus a complete destination for those who want to experience the mountains in all their facets—nature, sport, culture, and tradition.
