Discovering Passo Giau

Passo Giau, located at 2,236 meters above sea level between Cortina d’Ampezzo, Colle Santa Lucia, and Selva di Cadore, is one of the most scenic alpine passes in the UNESCO Dolomites. Historically and culturally, the pass preserves significant landmarks: the Giau Wall, built to separate disputed pastures between the communities of Ampezzo and San Vito, and the border stone marking the former boundary between the Austrian Empire and the Republic of Venice. The area is also crossed by the Alta Via No. 1, one of the most famous hiking trails in the Dolomites.
