Discovering Colle Santa Lucia

Nestled at 1,453 meters in the heart of the Alto Agordino region, Colle Santa Lucia is one of the most authentic villages in the Belluno Dolomites, part of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage. Overlooking the scenic Val Fiorentina, it offers breathtaking views of Mount Pelmo, the Cernera Group, and the majestic Mount Civetta.

The village is deeply rooted in Ladin culture, reflected in its language, traditions, and architecture. In the historic center stands the Cesa de Jan, home to the Istitut Cultural Ladin, which promotes local heritage through the Ladin Museum and various cultural initiatives. The Tyrolean legacy is evident in the layout of the central square, the traditional houses, and the practice of maso chiuso, a system that preserves the integrity of family-owned properties.

Colle Santa Lucia is also a starting point for hiking trails along the Great War paths, leading to Passo Giau and Rifugio Averau. During summer, the village comes alive with events such as the Miner’s Tour, Iron Days, and the festive “Col in Festa”, celebrating local identity and traditions.

The Church of Santa Lucia, with its historic cemetery integrated into the village center, is a rare example of alpine religious architecture—an enduring symbol of spirituality and memory.
