Discovering Fadnerjöchl
Fadnerjöchl (2,474 m) is a spectacular Alpine pass nestled in the wild Ahrntal Valley (Valle Aurina), South Tyrol, between the villages of Weißenbach (Rio Bianco) and Mühlwald (Selva dei Molini). Surrounded by the peaks of the Rieserferner Group, this scenic spot is a hidden gem for hikers and ski mountaineers seeking unspoiled nature, breathtaking views, and authentic South Tyrolean charm.
In summer, Fadnerjöchl can be reached via well-marked hiking trails that wind through spruce forests, alpine meadows, and traditional mountain huts like the Fadner Alm, located at 2,143 meters. The route offers stunning vistas and opportunities to spot Alpine wildlife in a peaceful, uncrowded setting. Nearby huts such as Innerhofer Alm and Pircher Alm serve typical Tyrolean dishes, making them perfect for a refreshing break.
In winter, the area transforms into a prime destination for ski touring, with routes starting from Weißenbach and climbing through snowy woods and slopes to the summit of Fadner (2,474 m). With a vertical gain of around 1,100 meters, the ascent is suited to experienced mountaineers and rewards them with a thrilling descent through pristine snowfields.
Easily accessible from Luttach (Lutago) and Sand in Taufers (Campo Tures), Fadnerjöchl is ideal for those who want to experience the mountains in a genuine and tranquil way, far from the crowds.
