Discovering Passo San Pellegrino
The Passo San Pellegrino, located at 1918 meters above sea level, is an important Dolomite pass connecting the charming town of Moena in Val di Fassa with Falcade in Val Biois. This strategic position makes it an ideal destination both in summer and in winter for those who love the mountains and outdoor sports.
In winter, the Passo San Pellegrino is part of the Trevalli ski area, which includes Falcade-San Pellegrino, Moena-Lusia-Bellamonte, and the nearby Passo Valles (2031 m), all belonging to the Dolomiti Superski circuit, offering slopes for every level of experience, from alpine skiing to snowboarding, as well as freeride opportunities. Near the pass, the Alochet Nordic Ski Center allows cross-country skiing on trails that reach the picturesque Lago di San Pellegrino.
During the summer season, the pass is a perfect base for hiking and walks amid breathtaking panoramas. It is crossed by the famous Alta Via n. 2, a trail connecting Bressanone to Feltre, ideal for multi-day trekking or simple day hikes. Numerous trails lead to traditional mountain huts such as Rifugio Fuciade, Rifugio Passo delle Selle, and Rifugio Cima Uomo, where you can enjoy local traditional dishes and spectacular views of the Dolomites.
The pass is also very popular with cyclists, thanks to its challenging and panoramic climbs, perfect for training and amateur rides.
Moreover, the area preserves significant historical sites, such as World War I trenches, which can be visited by walking some trails and that tell an important part of the Dolomites’ history.
The Passo San Pellegrino is therefore a complete and fascinating destination, ideal for those seeking winter sports, summer excursions, nature, history, and warm hospitality in welcoming mountain huts.
