Discovering Auronzo di Cadore

In the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites, Auronzo di Cadore serves as the gateway to the Tre Cime di Lavaredo. The town overlooks Lake Santa Caterina and faces the Marmarole and Cadini di Misurina ranges, surrounded by forests, water, and dolomite cliffs. Just minutes away, Lake Misurina and Lake Antorno complete a trio of alpine lakes perfect for holidays in the Dolomites.

Trails and via ferratas invite visitors to enjoy hiking and trekking: from the Tre Cime Loop Trail to lakeside walks and excursions into the Somadida Forest. On Monte Agudo, summer lifts, the Fun Bob alpine coaster, and an adventure park offer panoramic views and family fun. MTB routes and scenic trails trace a natural balcony over the Dolomites.

In winter, the Auronzo-Misurina ski area offers alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing through forests with views of the Tre Cime. Monte Piana is a poignant open-air museum of the Great War, to be explored with care and respect. In mountain huts and alpine dairies, Cadorino cuisine tells the story of the land: casunziei (stuffed pasta), polenta, and mountain cheeses, with seasonal traditions that bring the region to life.

Its cultural identity is expressed through local symbols: the Auronzo rooster and the Chapel of Madonna delle Grazie, tied to the legend of pasture division with Dobbiaco.
