Discovering Cornedo all'Isarco

At the entrance of the Isarco Valley and the Val d’Ega lies Cornedo all’Isarco (Karneid), a municipality in the autonomous province of Bolzano. With its hamlets – Prato all’Isarco, San Valentino in Campo, Cardano, Collepietra, and Cornedo – it is a destination that combines nature, culture, and tradition, ideal for those seeking outdoor activities as well as moments of relaxation and cultural enrichment.

A symbol of the area is Castel Cornedo, a 13th-century medieval castle overlooking the valley, open for guided tours from April to October. Those wishing to discover the traditional mountain lifestyle should not miss the Collepietra Museum, rich in historical artifacts and local traditions. In San Valentino in Campo, astronomy enthusiasts are amazed by the Max Valier Observatory and the Peter Anich Solar Observatory. For a unique experience, the Planet Trail, a 7 km circular path, allows visitors to take a journey through the solar system.

Sports lovers will find paradise here: in summer, the Catinaccio and Latemar offer breathtaking hiking trails and climbing routes, as well as exciting MTB tours such as the Latemar Circuit or the Isarco Valley Cycle Path. In winter, the nearby Carezza and Obereggen ski areas provide perfect slopes, cross-country ski trails, and snowshoe paths.
