Discovering Termeno
Termeno on the South Tyrolean Wine Road is a gem in South Tyrol that blends landscape, tradition, and genuine hospitality. Located at 276 meters above sea level, nestled among gentle vine-covered hills south of Lake Caldaro, Termeno is world-renowned as the home of Gewürztraminer, the aromatic white wine that reflects the character and history of this land.
Walking among the well-tended vineyards, historic alleys, and traditional houses with arcades and inner courtyards feels like stepping back in time. The town center is lively and charming, featuring typical taverns, historic wineries, and artisan distilleries, perfect for wine tastings and exploring the region’s wine culture.
Termeno is also a haven for outdoor enthusiasts: from here start many hiking trails and bike paths through the Adige Valley and up into the surrounding woods and mountains. On warm days, Lake Caldaro and the town’s large outdoor pool offer fun and refreshment for all ages.
Culture is deeply rooted in Termeno: the Hoamet Museum showcases rural traditions, while the small church of San Giacomo in Kastelaz houses rare Romanesque frescoes. Every two years, during Carnival, the Egetmann Parade brings the streets alive with color, music, and folklore, in a celebration dating back to the Middle Ages.
Termeno is more than a holiday destination — it’s a place where you feel at home, even far from home.
