Discovering Falcade

Falcade is a picturesque mountain village at 1,100 m above sea level, surrounded by some of the most majestic Dolomite peaks, recognized as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site: the Civetta (3,220 m a.s.l.), the Marmolada (3,343 m a.s.l.), the Focobon Group (3,054 m a.s.l.), and the Auta Chain (2,623 m a.s.l.). Located on the border between Veneto and Trentino, Falcade is the main tourist center of the Val del Biois, an ideal destination for lovers of nature, good food, and outdoor sports.

From Molino, the cable car to the San Pellegrino Ski Area departs, in the heart of Dolomiti Superski, offering 60 km of downhill slopes, a snowpark, and 3 beginner ski areas. In summer, the cable car allows hikes at altitude, mountain bike trails, and downhill tracks. For children, Le Buse features the Ants’ Garden and the Artists’ Forest.

Cross-country skiing enthusiasts can enjoy the Pietro Scola Cross-Country Center, with 10 km of trails in the woods and the Falcade Plain, perfect for families. The Falcade Plain, with a playground, tennis and bocce courts, and an alpine pond, is ideal for a day of fun.

Falcade is a starting point for many trekking and panoramic walks: from the Giro delle Coste to the Cavalera trail, up to nearby Valfredda, famous for the "casoni". The Mulaz Refuge at 2,571 m a.s.l. and the cross on Monte Mulaz (2,906 m a.s.l.) are must-visit spots for mountain enthusiasts. For advanced hikers, the Alta Via n.2, Alta Via Tilman, and Alta Via dei Pastori pass through the area.

Culture in Falcade is everywhere: the characteristic Tabià, sacred frescoes, and the Augusto Murer Studio-Museum make the village an open-air museum. Don’t miss the transhumance festival “Se Desmonteghea”, held the last weekend of September, with typical dishes and a craft market on the Falcade Plain.
